For two years, a devoted dog kept a constant vigil at his owner’s grave, displaying unwavering loyalty despite the challenges of time and weather. As the seasons passed, he became thin and frail, weakened by lack of food and the harsh surroundings.
Yet, his determination never wavered, and he remained steadfast at the gravesite, his eyes conveying a deep sorrow and unwavering devotion to his late owner.
Upon discovering him, we found the dog lying by the grave, alert yet still, as though he awaited his owner’s return. His fur, once vibrant, was now matted and dull, and his ribs were visible beneath it.
Though his eyes were cautious, they also held a silent plea for help. As we approached, we spoke softly to reassure him that he no longer needed to endure this solitude.
However, when we tried to guide him away, he resisted, clinging to the only place he had known as home—right next to his owner’s resting place.
We kneeled beside the loyal canine, promising to visit the grave often while gently explaining that he deserved a life beyond grief and loneliness.
