Elvis spent his entire 19 years on Earth tied to a chain. Inside his little bubble of existence was a bucket of dirty water, a small food bowl, and a claustrophobic wooden doghouse, which he often took refuge in. The poor pup was in a sorry state.
His body was covered in flies and bleeding bites. The flies were eating him alive. He was so sick that all his ribs were visible and threatened to bite through his skin.
After 19 long years of only being able to walk to the end of the chain, he hesitated to venture outside the small bubble he’d lived in his entire life. Despite struggling to stand and having almost no energy, he tried to crawl back to his tiny kennel.
But his heroic rescuers pulled him out of his horrible living conditions and took Elvis to a shelter where he was examined by a veterinarian and treated to a hearty meal.
Although it wasn’t for long, Elvis lived out his final months experiencing freedom, friendship, and knowing what it feels like to be truly loved.
