Chicago’s Little Village neighborhood erupted in chaos today after reports of gunfire targeting Department of Homeland Security (DHS) agents during an enforcement operation.
According to local sources, DHS agents were conducting an operation when several shots were fired in their direction. The agents quickly took cover and called for backup as police swarmed the area to contain the situation.
Chicago Police confirmed that multiple people were taken into custody following the exchange. While no officers or agents were reported injured, the tense encounter drew a large crowd of bystanders and residents recording the scene.
Witnesses said the moment was “total chaos,” as heavily armed units moved in and detained several suspects believed to be connected to the shooting.
Authorities have not yet released the identities of those arrested, and the investigation remains ongoing as both DHS and Chicago PD review bodycam and surveillance footage from the area.
