Ann Flores witnessed two women dragging terrified dogs into a Texas animal shelter. One of the dogs, later named Truman, lay on his back refusing to move, clearly scared. The women laughed, showing no concern, which deeply upset Flores.
Truman and his sister, Mandi, were later taken in by rescue groups. Truman was nearly euthanized due to shelter overcrowding, but a foster was found just in time. He was terrified, but still wagged his tail, showing he just needed love.
Kellie Donoghue, who picked up Truman, said he quickly warmed up during the car ride and passed his temperament test. He now lives with a foster mom and is happy, though still adjusting to being indoors and receiving treatment for heartworm.
Mandi, also heartworm positive and suffering from mange, was shy and scared at first. But under her foster mom’s care, she’s slowly gaining confidence and learning to trust.
Both dogs are now safe, loved, and on their way to better lives.
