Dog Tied To Stop Sign Is Unsure Of Rescuers — Until He Gets His First Belly Rub

While walking through her St. Louis neighborhood, a woman spotted a dog tied to a stop sign with no owner in sight. The friendly pit bull mix lifted his leg—not in distress, but asking for belly rubs. She called Stray Rescue of St. Louis (SRSL), and Donna Lochmann soon arrived.

Surrounded by kind strangers, the dog, later named Campbell, remained too timid to move, but eagerly rolled over for more belly rubs. When treats didn’t work, Lochmann gently carried him to her Jeep.

At the shelter, Campbell received a clean bill of health and was placed in a loving foster home just days later. Now, he’s thriving in a cozy home where he gets all the cuddles he could ever want.

Campbell is still looking for his forever family — and plenty more belly rubs.
