Just before Christmas, Stray Rescue of St. Louis received a call about a St. Bernard found alone in an abandoned home. The dog, later named Stu, had been left in a crate and was severely underweight — only 43 pounds, when he should’ve weighed over 120.
Cold, filthy, and in critical condition, Stu was rushed to the shelter’s clinic. The staff gently cleaned him, kept him warm, and began feeding him on a strict schedule.
Within days, Stu was well enough to move to a medical foster home, where he continued to heal. He now enjoys a comfy bed, new dog friends, and a life full of love and care.
