While spending time outdoors in Sydney, Australia, Jessica placed her diaper bag under a stroller — not realizing a baby ringtail possum had crawled inside for warmth.
The joey was discovered only when the stroller was moved. Likely separated from her mother, the tiny possum was cold and alone.
Jessica quickly called WIRES, a wildlife rescue group, and kept the baby safe and warm in a quiet room until help arrived.
A volunteer took the possum to a carer named Julie, who found her to be just 2.5 months old and only 110 grams. Thankfully uninjured, the little joey was named Jessica — after her kind rescuer.
