Rare Family Crossing Road Causes Driver To Stop In Her Tracks
While driving near her home in Texas, Amanda Walding spotted what she first thought was a family of raccoons or opossums crossing the road. As she got closer, she realized it was actually a group of armadillos — a mother with seven babies, which is highly unusual since armadillos typically have four identical offspring.
Walding shared the rare sighting with Texas Parks and Wildlife, who confirmed it’s possible the seven babies are all hers, though adoption of orphans is also a possibility. Walding, who had only seen baby armadillos once before, was thrilled by the unique encounter and happy the mother got all seven safely across the road.
