While heading home one evening in Denpasar, Bali, Rico Soegiarto came across a heartbreaking sight: a nearly bald, malnourished dog lying weakly on the roadside.
Covered in wounds and barely able to move, the animal’s condition was so severe that it was hard to tell she was a Siberian Husky.
Despite her fragile state, something about her piercing blue eyes stopped Rico in his tracks.
He saw not just suffering, but a spark of life—a quiet plea for help. Without hesitation, he took her home.
Rico was no stranger to rescue work. Already caring for four adopted dogs, he knew this one needed intensive care. He named her Hope.
Hope’s recovery wasn’t quick or easy. Rico gave her regular medicated baths, helped her regain strength with nutritious food, and created a safe, loving space for her to heal.
Slowly, her fur began to return, her wounds closed, and the fearful, broken dog began to trust again.
Over the course of a year, Hope’s transformation was remarkable.
From a husk of a dog, she blossomed into a beautiful, healthy Husky with a full coat, bright eyes, and a joyful spirit.
And she wasn’t just a temporary guest—Rico officially adopted her into his family.
Now, Hope lives happily in Bali with Rico and his other dogs, enjoying long walks, playtime, and the care she always deserved.
