On a wet, chilly day, a group of trembling puppies took shelter beneath a car. They were soaked, cold, and clinging to each other for warmth.
Passersby barely glanced at them, dismissing them as just more strays. But I couldn’t ignore them. Their tiny bodies and frightened eyes broke my heart.
I brought them some food and stayed nearby, hoping their mother would return. Hours later, a sad-eyed dog approached slowly.
Her body language said everything—exhausted, wary, yet drawn to her pups. It was her. This tired, anxious dog was their mother.
Gaining her trust wasn’t easy, but eventually she stayed. We had the whole family safe at last.
The next day, I took them to the vet. Still frightened, they huddled in a corner of the clinic.
We gave them names: Seongkal, Haetal, and the mother, Banya. After a good bath and vaccinations, they already looked brighter.
Seongkal, renamed Plum, was the first to find a home. He was adopted by Hyeonsik, the very person who had helped rescue them.
Treated for several infections, Plum thrived under his new care.
Banya, the mother, was discharged with a clean bill of health, though still nervous.
Haetal’s case was more complicated—advanced mange meant a longer hospital stay. But in time, both remaining dogs also found loving homes.
From cold rain and fear to warmth and safety, this little family endured more than they should have.
But in the end, they were seen, cared for, and loved—and that made all the difference.
