Found abandoned in a forest in Romania, a helpless dog teetered on the brink of death.
The Caucasian shepherd, later named Keanu, was discovered just in time by rescuers from 1 Dog At A Time Rescue UK, who quickly realized the severity of his condition.
Reflecting on the rescue, Jayne from the organization recalls, “He was so depleted, simply lying lifeless on the forest floor, unable to move.
He had completely given up.” Initially, Keanu was so weak that he spent his first days eating and drinking right where he lay, without the strength to even stand up.
However, with the dedicated care of his rescuers, Keanu’s condition gradually improved. Little by little, he regained his spirit and, after several weeks, started walking again.
As his health continued to improve, he even found joy in playing. His gentle nature won over the hearts of everyone at the rescue center. “Keanu truly is a gentle soul and a one-in-a-million dog,” Jayne admires.
Ultimately, Keanu’s journey led to a heartwarming conclusion. He was welcomed into a loving home in the United Kingdom, where he thrived and grew into a confident, robust dog.
Considering how frail he once was, the transformation is remarkable. Now, two years after his rescue, Keanu enjoys a life of freedom and happiness with his adopted family.
