No One Wanted This Senior Dog — Then 100-Year-Old Woman Applied To Adopt Him
Alice Ensor, an adoption counselor at Muttville Senior Dog Rescue, was surprised when Johanna, 100 years old, applied to adopt a dog. Ensor thought Johanna must be a special dog lover to seek a new furry friend ahead of her 101st birthday. Despite concerns about her age, Johanna had a strong support system, including a caretaker and her daughter, Debbie, making her a great candidate for adopting one of Muttville’s senior dogs.
The rescue staff decided that Gnocchi, a dog who had been at the shelter for a while, might be a perfect match. Gnocchi had been rescued from a home with 22 dogs and needed to be the only pet. When Johanna saw Gnocchi on a virtual call, it was love at first sight. The adoption was processed the next day, and Debbie brought Gnocchi, now named Gucci, to his new home.
A year later, Gucci and Johanna are thriving together. Gucci brings Johanna immense joy and comfort, and their daily routine of cuddling and watching the news has been a perfect fit. Debbie says Gucci is spoiled and a perfect match for her mom.
