”Thinnest dog ever seen alive” makes stunning recovery

Imagine being so hungry, you resort to eating batteries and glass — just to have something in your stomach. That was the heartbreaking reality for a dog named…That was the heartbreaking reality for a dog named Eric, who was found abandoned and starving in the backyard of a deserted house in Accrington, U.K.His story is a powerful reminder of just how urgently animals in need rely on our compassion.Couldn’t lift his head
It was RSPCA officer Nina Small from Lancashire, who received the tip about the severely emaciated dog. She immediately drove to the location — a vacant council house — to check it out. What she found shook her to the core. Nina was no stranger to animal cruelty cases, but this was beyond anything she had encountered before.

The dog was given a new name — Walter — and so began his long road to recovery, and hopefully, a future filled with love and safetyBut Walter’s journey was anything but easy. His condition was critical, and for a while, it was uncertain whether he’d pull through. His nails were severely overgrown, his fur was soaked in urine, and every bone in his body was visible. He hadn’t had real food in a long time. Instead, it was revealed that his stomach contained shards of glass, bits of metal, and even parts of a battery.”I believe poor Walter had been confined somewhere out of sight, eating whatever he’s been able to get in his mouth, perhaps a garage or a shed,” Nina told Lancslive. At death’s door
RSPCA Lancashire East noted that Walter still gets a little too excited around other dogs, so continued socialization would be helpful to boost his confidence and teach him some basic doggy manners. Due to his playful and bouncy nature, they recommended he go to an adult-only home or a family with older children. If his journey moved you too, please consider sharing his story — a beautiful reminder of how compassion can change lives, and a tribute to the heroes who go above and beyond to make sure every animal gets a chance at a better life.”Thinnest dog ever seen alive” makes stunning recovery
