Compassionate Officer Refuses to Abandon Two Frightened Pit Bulls Found Injured and Alone on a Dark, High-Traffic Road

At 4:30 a.m. on a busy road in Orange County, Patrick Hennessey spotted two pit bulls in distress. Injured and trembling, they were dangerously close to traffic. Patrick called the police for help, and when deputies arrived, one of the dogs, despite her fear, curled up in the officer’s lap, seeking comfort.

The two pit bulls, wearing pink collars, had likely been abandoned. One dog had a serious leg injury, possibly from being hit by a car. Deputies Boggs and Reed quickly tended to her, applying gauze to stop the bleeding while waiting for animal rescue professionals.

A passerby, moved by the officers’ compassion, took photos and shared them, praising the deputies for their kindness. Deputies Boggs and Reed stayed with the dogs, offering comfort and reassurance, despite their long shifts. They knew the dogs had been abandoned before, but they were determined to make sure Liberty and Justice were never left alone again.

Officer Reed shared that pit bulls, often misunderstood, are loving animals. The deputies’ dedication showed in their actions. After Animal Services arrived, the dogs were safely taken into care, having finally found the love and safety they deserved.
