On a sunny day in Pennsylvania, a woman found a motionless white dog left in a cardboard box on her porch. Fearing he was dead, she called her daughter at Speranza Animal Rescue. The dog, later named G.I. Joe, was unconscious but alive, suffering from seizures and needing urgent care.
Rescuers took him in, and he began to recover. He was fostered by Karen Spangler, who initially planned for it to be temporary. But as G.I. Joe bonded with her family and other dogs, Spangler realized she couldn’t let him go.
Now called Joey, he’s thriving in his new home, bringing joy and energy to everyone around him. Spangler, now a proud “foster fail,” says she can’t imagine life without him.
