Dog Barks at Coffin during Funeral, Suspicious Son Opens It and Finds It Empty – Story of the Day
Ryan gets suspicious when his dog, Bella, runs into the church and starts barking at his father’s coffin. When Ryan opens it, he finds the casket empty.
After the funeral, he reports the incident to the police. Detective Bradshaw starts investigating, but with no solid leads, Ryan decides to act on his own. He goes to the morgue and finds that the coroner has resigned, and his father’s file is missing.
Later, Ryan learns from his father’s lawyer, Mr. Stevens, that he is now the CEO of his father’s company, which is drowning in debt. There are rumors about Arnold having an affair with his secretary, Miss Pearson. Ryan follows her, breaks into her house, and finds a photo of her kissing Arnold and a $7 million life insurance policy with her as the sole beneficiary.
Ryan takes the policy to the police. They discover Miss Pearson is trying to flee to Morocco. At the airport, she escapes before they can stop her.
Still convinced his father is alive, Ryan sets a trap by buying a rare figurine from a collector — part of a set Arnold once tried to complete. He auctions it off, hoping his father will show up.
At the auction, just as the bidding is about to end, Arnold reveals himself by offering $1 million. Ryan blocks his escape and Detective Bradshaw arrests him.
Arnold confesses to faking his death to start a new life with Miss Pearson, using the life insurance money. Ryan confronts him, disappointed by his father’s betrayal. The detective assures him that Miss Pearson will be caught soon too.
