Firefighters’ Quick Thinking Saves Dog Trapped in Tire
When Daisy, a playful pup from Franklinville, New Jersey, got her head stuck in a tire rim, her family knew she needed urgent help.
They reached out to the Franklinville Volunteer Fire Company (FVFC) and Franklin Township Police Department, whose teamwork and innovative thinking turned a stressful situation into an inspiring rescue story.

At first, rescuers tried using soap and water to slide Daisy’s head out of the rim, but she remained stuck. Realizing they needed a new approach, a firefighter used his personal plasma cutter—an unconventional but effective tool—to carefully cut through the metal.

To keep Daisy safe, the team placed blankets around her neck as a protective barrier and ensured she stayed calm throughout the process. Sparks flew as they worked with precision, methodically cutting away a section of the tire until Daisy could finally be freed.
The heartwarming moment was captured in a viral video, showcasing Daisy’s patience and the team’s dedication. Once free, Daisy stretched her legs in relief, unharmed and grateful.

The FVFC later shared an update, confirming Daisy was doing well and emphasizing their commitment to helping all community members—human and animal alike. Their creativity, compassion, and teamwork remind us of the incredible dedication of first responders who go above and beyond to save lives.
