A frightened 9-year-old pit bull named Pebbles was found abandoned, still leashed, in a cage beside a shed in rural California. A passerby reported the scene, and an officer brought her to the Santa Cruz County Animal Shelter (SCCAS).
Police later learned Pebbles had been left behind after her owner became homeless a year earlier. Despite her tough past, Pebbles is now safe at the shelter, loved by staff, and waiting for a forever home.
