A goodbye that leaves an unfillable silence and an emptiness where once there was laughter and hope.
The news shocked a community still struggling to process the tragedy. Lizeth and Gabriel, two young doctors, went from a story of love and achievement to a symbol of grief.
Friends and colleagues remember their laughter and shared goals, while social media overflows with farewell messages reflecting their impact.
Lizeth González, a surgeon and midwife from Nuevo León, graduated in 2019 and was pursuing a specialty in Gynecology and Obstetrics. Gabriel Simental, a radiologist at Hospital Ángeles Lomas, was known for his professionalism and kindness. They married in September 2022 and had two children, Francisco Gabriel and Dandara. They were described as inseparable soul mates devoted to their family.
On their third anniversary in September 2025, an accident on Luis Donaldo Colosio Boulevard in Cancun claimed their lives, along with their children and other family members. Seven people died, deeply affecting the medical community and those who followed their lives.
Lizeth’s sister Brenda shared a heartfelt message, calling her “my example, my everything” and expressing gratitude for the love and family they shared. Friends recalled Gabriel’s dedication and their inspiring journey in medicine, offering admiration and sorrow.
The medical community mourned, expressing sympathy and faith that they rest peacefully together. A friend lamented the avoidable nature of the tragedy and the lasting pain for those who knew them.
In honoring their memory, friends, family, and colleagues focus on the values Lizeth and Gabriel embodied: professionalism, family love, and generosity. Their smiles in photos and memories now provide solace to a grieving community united in support and remembrance.
