MY 77-YEAR-OLD MOTHER-IN-LAW GOT A KITTEN—IS THIS A RECIPE FOR DISASTER?
Let’s be real: kittens are a lot of work. They climb curtains, knock things over, and demand constant attention. What happens if her health declines or she gets too tired to keep up? I can already see the ending—she’ll get attached to the kitten, and guess who’ll end up taking care of it? Me.
I even suggested a low-maintenance pet, like a fish, but she dismissed the idea. She’s convinced the kitten will be her “new companion” and “keep her active.” Active? Who’s going to handle the chaos when the kitten’s tearing through her house? Certainly not her!
I feel like this is a disaster waiting to happen, but no one else seems to agree. Am I overreacting, or is this bound to end badly?
