To solve the mystery, a DNA test is being done. While his eye color suggests he might be a domestic dog, the results will confirm whether he’s a dog, coyote, or hybrid.
The pup, now named Toast, is being fostered by a wildlife officer while they wait for the results. Despite the uncertainty, he’s already loved and cared for.
“Toast is a fluffy little pup with a big personality,” the shelter said. What happens next depends on the DNA test — it’ll determine if he can be adopted or needs a special placement.
