A poor, lonely 13-year-old boy named Ethan Hough becomes an unexpected hero when he investigates why his neighbor’s dog, Rocky, won’t stop barking. Ethan’s parents, focused on his success, keep him isolated from other kids, fearing bullying due to their financial situation. One day, Ethan hears his neighbor, Carla, an elderly woman with no family, and her dog barking incessantly.
