Six Years of Suffering Ends: Jake Gets Life-Changing Care for Neglected Tumor
A heartbreaking case of neglect has turned into a story of hope for a sweet dog named Jake.
For six long years, Jake suffered with a massive salivary tumor, ignored by his previous owners who refused to seek veterinary care.
Despite claiming to love him, they attributed the swelling to a snake bite and did nothing to alleviate his pain.

“Jake has had a salivary tumor for six years, according to his owners, because they thought it was caused by a snake bite.
He was bred as an indoor dog and is exceptionally well-behaved, toilet-trained, gets along well with other dogs, and even knows how to shake,” stated the Long Way Home rescue group.

Jake’s ordeal came to an end when he was found wandering in a remote area of Texas. The rescue group worked tirelessly to convince his former owners to surrender him so he could receive the medical attention he desperately needed.
He was taken to the Texas Animal Medical Center in Waco, where Dr. Leidy and his team immediately began treatment.

The initial procedure brought immense relief to Jake. “We are grateful to the great staff of the Texas Animal Medical Center in Waco, where Dr. Leidy and his colleagues were treating Jake and draining 1200 cubic centimeters of salivary fluid from his neck.” reported the rescue group.

The impact was immediate and profound. “For the first time in six years, Jake managed to turn his head. It was easy to achieve!
He is eating and defecating properly, is in good spirits, and generally seems to be in good shape,” the rescue group shared.

While Jake’s future is still uncertain, the dedicated team at the animal medical center is doing everything possible to give him the best chance at a full recovery.
Kind-hearted people are rallying behind Jake, hoping for a happy ending to his long and painful journey.
