The coaches were unaware that they were going to see something amazing as Ryley took the stage on The Voice. After Ryley’s performance ended, all four coaches were in complete disbelief, especially after learning his age. Kelly Clarkson was the first to click her button, followed closely by Niall Horan.
“After fifteen, I heard nothing!” Still taking in what she had just heard, Kelly blurted out. “You sound like that at the age of 15?”
Niall couldn’t contain his admiration as he reflected on his own adolescent audition on The X Factor. He said, “That was by far the best audition we’ve heard.”
Equally delighted, Chance the Rapper compared Ryley’s style to experimental R&B musicians like Steve Lacy and commended his faultless vocal runs. As part of his proposal, he added, “I would love to see what you could do in that space.”
Then came Blake Shelton, who was going all out for his last season. He made an offer that no contestant had ever heard before, using his trademark sense of humor:
The audience erupted in laughter as he said, “You choose me to be your coach, and I will step down after this season.” “I’m going to leave. I’ll be glad I had the opportunity to collaborate with you, Ryley.
