Vet Team Refuses To Give Up On Sick Puppy Who Looks Like A ‘Little Piglet’

When a 3-month-old stray puppy arrived at the Kentucky Humane Society, he was covered in scabs and in critical condition. Named Wilbur, after the pig in Charlotte’s Web, he suffered from demodectic mange and giardia, leaving his skin raw and his body weak.

“Every touch or movement caused him immense pain,” said Jen Harris of the Humane Society. Despite this, Wilbur remained gentle and patient, as if he knew he was finally safe.

He was treated with pain meds, antibiotics, dewormer, and medicated baths. The staff fed him nutritious food, kept him hydrated, and gave him constant love and care.

Gradually, Wilbur began to heal. Soft fur returned, his skin improved, and he started seeking affection, wearing sweaters and enjoying daily lotion rubs as part of his recovery.
